Andra "Andee" Adams was 27, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, known for her art, her tattoos, and her love of Halloween. In early 2020, she traveled to Seattle to visit someone she'd met online. The COVID-19 pandemic hit not long after, and she found herself stranded in the U.S., far from her family and friends back home.
Over the months that followed, the people who loved Andee noticed her change. She grew isolated. She stopped reaching out. She started covering her tattoos and dressing differently than the colorful, confident person they knew.
On September 19, 2020, Andee was killed in Seattle after being struck by a car. No charges have ever been filed in her death.
Her family has spent years since fighting for accountability and for the investigation her death deserves.
The people who loved Andee have also built a community around her memory, including a support network for others affected by domestic violence.
