Julianne Stallman: Unsolved 1994 Butte, Montana Murder

On November 29, 1994, Julianne Stallman was murdered in her own home on California Avenue in Butte, Montana. She had been stabbed to death, her throat slit.

Her daughter, Jennifer MacPhee, has said the hardest part of the last three decades is knowing that whoever killed her mother was someone Julianne knew. That belief has carried through the case from the start, and the person responsible has never been identified.

For years the case sat cold. In 2021, the Butte-Silver Bow Police Department began working with a private lab on forensic genealogy, using male DNA recovered from the scene, in hopes that genetic databases could finally point to a name. Jennifer has said she hopes to live to see that day.
