Mathew Vetromile was 32 years old, a father of two who had recently relocated to Florida hoping for a fresh start. He disappeared from an Orlando hotel on March 1, 2021.
Mathew was staying at a hotel on International Drive with his girlfriend. The two had an argument, and when she woke from a nap, he was gone. The last confirmed contact with him was around 11:30 a.m. that day. He has not been heard from since.
Mathew takes daily medication for anxiety, depression, and PTSD, and left without it. His mother, Carla, has said that without his medication, he could be at serious risk. Carla has spent years traveling between New York and Central Florida to search for him herself, hanging flyers, reviewing security footage, and speaking with anyone who might have information.
Carla Vetromile has kept Mathew's case in the public eye for years, including through vigils held on his birthday and interviews with true crime podcasts and local news. She has said she doesn't need anyone to get in trouble — she just needs any piece of information, however small, to bring her son home.
Carla has said she just wants her son home, whatever that answer looks like.
